Cardiac tests (heart tests) give your doctor information about the condition of your heart and can help find out which treatments may be best for you.
An ECG (electrocardiogram) is used to monitor your hearts rhythm and electrical activity.
Sensors called electrodes will be attached to the skin and used to detect electrical signals. These signals are then recorded and examined by your doctor to see if they’re unusual.
No preparation is needed for this test.
An ECG usually takes between 15-30 minutes to complete and results should be with your doctor within 10 days.
The test is painless, however there may be slight discomfort when removing the electrodes from your skin.

There are several different ways an Echocardiogram can be carried out. The most common type of assessment is a Transthoracic Echocardiogram.
No preparation is needed for a standard Echocardiogram.
The assessment should take between 20-60 minutes and your consultant should have your results within one week.
